A brilliant new 'zine from Oliver 'Tavu' Ente, mainly produced during the COVID19 lockdown. Tavu had already begun to develop the concept of associating the two elements that are in the drawings he has become known for, the portrait and the map, but in a photographic way. Throughout the 'zine he uses processes such as double exposure, half frame, collage and more.
Tavu had a printer that created polaroids directly from a phone, and during lockdown started to ask permission to use some photographer's portraits via Insta DMs, screen shotting the image and then making a polaroid from it. As time went on the concept of working purely to a New York theme began to make sense.
Gino Ianucci, Martha Cooper, Mark Gonzales, Gravediggaz era RZA, Harold Hunter, Bobby Puleo, Stretch and Bobitto and more all feature, with photography by Benjamin Deberdt, Theo Hand, Kevin Couliau, Jamel Shabazz, David Corio and more.
Edition of 70, 24 pages, A5, full colour, each page has a small insert featuring the Insta DM communication between Tavu and the photographer/subject. Each copy comes with 2 postcards featuring Tavu's portraits of John and Alice Coltrane mounted on the inside cover.
